Ezra continues to be a pretty chill baby, however his 6week growth spurt was intense and he has the longest little 2mo old body now to prove it! Little guy is not so little any more, and he really living up to his Hekman male genes.
Size: He weighed 13lbs 7oz at his 2 month appointment, which puts him in the 80th percentile for weight. I cannot remember how many inches he was, but I do know that he was in the 95th percentile for his height and the 85th percentile for his head size.
Eating: He is finally on a pretty regular 3-hour eating schedule during the day. Usually he eats a full feeding sometime around 7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm and 7pm, plus/minus 30 minutes on all of those.
Sleeping: Once I gave up dairy (last week!) he has finally stopped waking up due to what I think was gas pain/spitting up, and he is sleeping from about 8pm-2 or 3am. Then he eats and goes back to sleep pretty well until about 7am. This might not sound too amazing but to me this is fantastic! It is considered “sleeping through the night” if the baby is going more than 5 hours without eating. So honestly these 6-7 hour stretches with only ONE nighttime feeding are heavenly to me, compared to what we dealt with when Violet was 2 months old! We are thankful for these good nights, and of course there are still some bad nights here and there, but just so thankful for this pretty typical rhythm for now.
-He loves looking up at his activity gym toys and hitting them.
-Smiles often and especially at his sister and any stuffed panda bears
-Loves to be held/carried in the Moby Wrap
-Drinks a bottle well, a little too fast, but at least he is happy to drink it
-Doesn’t tolerate soy or dairy in breastmilk very well. Not a real allergy, but I do think it was the culprit for his nighttime grunting, gas, spit-up and difficulty burping. Once I stopped eating dairy, he has not had these problems. Totally worth it!
-Doesn’t have a lot of head/neck control yet, and falls asleep during Tummy Time usually. This is getting to be a bit concerning (not terribly, just a little) so we are going to see his pediatrician and get a referral to a physical therapist just to help him out. Most likely its related to the fact that he was breech and that he has a huge head! We shall see.
-Loves to coo/talk make noises at us
-Doesn’t love the car, but loves to be outside and looking up at trees or clouds
-Loves to hang out in his Mamaroo swing and look/smile at the ceiling fan or his sister/parents, as photographed below:
We love him so much!
